" It wasn't close to 'getting out of hand"

what would you consider getting out of hand then?

he resulted in the majority of forum discussion being nothing about the GD.

this a GD discussion forum, and the level of non-GD discussion that resulted from him was out of hand imo. the guy was incredibly rude and disrespectful to everyone and was greatly detracting from the experience here.

There's a very large level of 'non GD' exchanges going on here on a daily basis - it's the broad range of opinion and interest in all kinds of topics that gives this forum its appeal; if there was nothing but endless recycling of the Funkiest Post-Brent Shakedown debate or Parking Lot Anecdotes Volume XXXI this would be just a sad old fanboy hangout.

And if you were so upset by this person 'detracting from the experience' then why were you such an enthusiastic provider of fresh troll food?

There's a huge difference between the standard non-Dead thread we see from respected forum members, and the garbage posted by trolls.

I'm all in favor of some non-Dead discussion, as long as it doesn't dominate the forum. Troll posts have no redeeming value. The other non-Dead topics usually spark good, interesting discussion.

First off, I can assure you it did not upset me. I was quite amused initially, and continued to go back and forth with him, as did quite a few others. Enough was enough though and I didn't want things to progress any further so I requested that everyone stop responding to him in any way.

If you request something of the forum and it happens, it's a sign of the Apocalypse.
